The story begins in Juniper City, where Guest, a master thief, has just arrived. Guest quickly crosses paths with Mei, a local thieving fox who believes herself to be the best. She stages an encounter to steal Guest's money, but Guest's superior skill allows them to not only thwart her attempt but also steal her money in the process. Enraged at being outsmarted, Mei chases Guest down and corners them in an alley, ready for a fight. The confrontation is set for two rival thieves, but what Mei doesn't know is that Guest is also an expert in Kung Fu, setting the stage for an enemies-to-lovers dynamic between two perfectly matched adversaries.
