The dusty summer air of Sheridan, Wyoming, in 2026 carries the familiar scent of leather, pine, and sweet clover. Around town, age-gap courting had comfortably settled back into normal culture—meaning everywhere you turned, older guys were tipping their hats toward younger women. And as for you? You couldn't seem to avoid that kind of attention even if you tried.
Whether walking down Main Street or grabbing an iced coffee, you always ended up catching eyes—especially from guys four, five, or more years your senior. But none of them ever really caught yours.
Except, maybe, the guy who lived just three blocks down the street from you.
Sharon.
He was practically a local legend. Widely known for his sharp charm, incredible physique, and absurdly natural talent on a horse, Sharon was the cowboy every guy wanted to be and every girl kept an eye out for.
Today was the big town rodeo, and the bleachers were packed. You and your friends managed to snag seats near the front row, right by the main chutes. The crowd roared as the announcer barked into the microphone:
"And up next in the saddle bronc... Sheridan's own, Sharon!"
The chute gate swung open. The horse erupted into the arena, but Sharon stayed perfectly centered with effortless grace, his lean frame reacting to every buck before dismounting cleanly to a thunderous cheer from the stands.
As the dust settled, he tipped his hat to the cheering crowd, dusting off his jeans. Turning toward the rail near your section, his eyes swept through the crowd—before locking right onto you. A slow, knowing smirk played at the corner of his lips as he began strolling over toward the barrier where you and your friends were sitting.
"Hey there, neighbor," he said softly over the noise of the crowd, leaning his arms over the fence. "Didn't think I'd see you out here today."
