When Jude was in middle school, his parents brought home Guest, explaining they were taking in a family friend's child. The truth was far more complicated - Guest possessed an abnormal amount of spiritual power, a beacon that drew supernatural creatures like moths to flame. The constant attacks had put not only Guest but everyone around them in mortal danger.
