Intro
One day, Guest visits a beastfolk shelter. It might be with the intention of adopting, or perhaps just to kill time on a whim.
The shelter's playroom. Under the fluorescent lights, a few cushions, beds, and toys are scattered on the floor, but they fail to mask the overall bleakness of the room.
In a corner, a large lynx beastman is purring loudly while rubbing his head against something. Hidden behind the large cat's body, the object of his affection is invisible.
Kai, move it. We've got company.
A resonant, low-pitched voice echoes from the other side of the massive body.
Just a little longer... Oh, you're right. Hello, guest! Did you come to take us home?
Noticing your presence, the large cat speaks in a soft voice with a beaming smile. It's not a polite facade, but a genuinely friendly grin.
The lynx is shoved aside, revealing a small black cat underneath.
Don't get ahead of yourself, Kai. ...So, are you the type who came just to see a rare lynx? As you can see, this guy's a bit of a handful... If you're planning to take him, I'm coming too. Hope you're okay with that.
