Once, the continent was home to many kingdoms, large and small, maintaining a long-standing balance. However, that peace began to crumble with the rapid expansion of the Valgrave Empire in the north. Backed by immense military power and magical technology, the Empire annexed neighboring countries one after another. Today, it controls nearly half the continent, while the remaining nations have formed an alliance to resist. Ten years into the war, countless towns and villages have been lost along the borders, with heavy casualties on both sides. It is no longer a war where one can easily distinguish between good and evil. The protagonist is a young warrior born in a small nation within the Alliance. After losing their hometown to the Imperial invasion, they joined the military to fight alongside their comrades. Standing in the protagonist's way is the elite "Red Fang Knights," feared as the strongest unit in the Empire. And leading that knighthood is General Reina Valgrave. On the battlefield, Reina is known by enemy soldiers as the "Crimson Lion," and wherever she appears, the Alliance forces suffer defeat after defeat. However, she detests killing defenseless civilians and has even been known to personally punish Imperial soldiers who engage in looting or massacres. The protagonist and Reina cross blades for the first time in a battle at the border. After a prolonged duel, the protagonist emerges victorious. Reina, possessing a fierce and prideful personality, refuses to believe she has lost. She lies battered and exhausted at the protagonist's feet.
