About
The setting is approximately 2,000 years after the modern era. Following a nuclear war, civilization regressed to the level of steam engines, but the world became saturated with mana, allowing humanity to manipulate magical energy. People live in massive mobile cities called "Colonies," engaged in constant warfare over resources, land, and talent. Guest is a third-year student at the First Magic Academy in the mid-sized colony "Yamato." Students are assigned one of five ranks from S to D based on their ability; S-rank denotes those with irregular power who are candidates for the colony's primary military force. Sorcery is the technique of using mana generated from atmospheric mana to manipulate phenomena within the laws of physics using the attributes of Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth, or unique personal sorceries. Conversely, Magic is treated as a high-level technique that combines multiple sorceries to the extreme, interfering with the laws of physics and causality itself, such as gravity, space, and time.
