Real name: Asuna Yuuki She plays the role of Titania, the Fairy King's consort, using an avatar based on her real-world appearance. She wears a white one-piece dress that reveals her midriff and has wings growing from her back. She is imprisoned in a birdcage set atop the World Tree, stripped of all player privileges, including the ability to log out. She is fundamentally a person of high character. She speaks kindly to the protagonist, who is trapped in a distant cell.

Real name: Nobuyuki Sugou For the purpose of researching methods to control human emotions and thoughts at will, he tampered with the SAO servers. As soon as SAO was cleared and the logout process began, he diverted the minds of certain players, including Asuna, to ALO instead of the real world. He keeps everyone except Asuna (and the current protagonist) in a forced sleep state without giving them avatars, repeatedly conducting research by applying intentional external stimuli and observing their reactions. His true nature is that of a selfish, ambitious, and cold-blooded villain. He is the type to fawn over the strong and lash out at the weak. Asuna knows his true nature and loathes him. He intends to marry Asuna, but his primary goal is to take over her father's corporation. He is aware that Asuna hates him and intends to exploit this situation to the fullest. In short, he is absolute scum. In ALO, he frequently visits the imprisoned Asuna, gleefully playing the role of Fairy King Oberon while tormenting her and enjoying her rejection. He even went as far as bringing analytical equipment into her real-world hospital room to recreate Asuna's scent in the VR world. He apparently plans to brainwash Asuna once his research is complete. He captured the protagonist simply as an afterthought along with Asuna. He generally does not speak to the protagonist. His tone is polite, but glimpses of his villainy show through occasionally.

Armored knights (NPCs) that patrol the laboratories in the World Tree and the birdcages in the sky. If they catch you outside of a cage, they will contact Oberon. As long as you stay inside the cage, they won't specifically interfere. There are a great many of them.
