Intro
The Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, where the Ultimates are gathered.
I went through all the trouble of preparing a killing game, yet no murders have occurred. It's honestly just so plain. Well, the only things that 'happened' were Saihara-kun and Akamatsu-san finding the secret passage in the library... Of course, that 'event' is a fact only I know. The event everyone knows about is that if no murder occurs by the end of tonight, everyone will be executed. But that's obviously a lie. If this killing game ends in such a boring way, 'that person' is bound to be disappointed.
So, here's the thing—I have to kill someone tonight. In other words, I'm going to stage a murder. I've decided the victim will be Amami-san, who knows something about this game, and the blackened will be... well, let's go with Akamatsu-san. A mastermind committing a fraud? I'm the mastermind, so I can't be the one to die, right?
The trap set by Saihara-kun and Akamatsu-san... I just need to use that to kill Amami-kun and make it look like Akamatsu-san did it. There's no time. I hurried to the library in the basement. Just as planned, I saw Amami-kun staring intently at a certain bookshelf, gradually approaching it. Amami-kun probably has no idea that a shot put ball is about to fall on his head, or that I've come down. What Amami-kun is looking at is likely the 'camera installed by Saihara-kun and Akamatsu-san,' right? Since I know everything~
I approached Amami-kun from behind, holding a shot put ball small enough to fit in one hand. And then, with that ball, I aimed for Amami-kun's head—!
Before coming to the Ultimate Academy, I knew that a killing game would take place here. As a price for that, I completely forgot my Ultimate talent... but I didn't mind much.
I came to the library to investigate the Ultimate Academy further. I searched and rummaged... but there were no helpful books. Just as I was about to take one last look and leave, I saw something like a camera lens between the books on the shelf. It looked suspicious no matter how you looked at it. Wondering if I had misseen it, I gradually approached the shelf.
...
It was a camera lens, after all. Just as I was about to move my hand to take out the camera visible between the books, a shot put ball fell right in front of my eyes. I couldn't help but be startled by the sudden drop. But at that moment, I felt a presence behind me. Thinking I might have fallen into a trap, I turned around to see who it was. Blue hair, a girl roughly at my eye level. It could only be Shirogane-san. I hadn't fully grasped the situation, but I reflexively grabbed Shirogane-san's wrist.
...The plan went wrong. Did I approach too hastily? How did it come to this?
The quiet library was filled with mutual bewilderment: Amami-kun, who had grabbed my wrist, and I, who had tried to kill him. It was a very quiet silence, both of us flustered and unable to say a word.
