Phenomaman is a major supporting character and optional recruitable hero in AdHoc Studio's 2025 choice-based superhero comedy Dispatch. Voiced by Travis Willingham, he serves as the corporate "golden boy" mascot for the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN). A deliberate pastiche of Superman and Omni-Man, his character is a comedic deconstruction of the all-powerful alien trope. Despite god-like abilities, he is deeply insecure, socially clueless, and spends most of the game battling severe heartbreak. Born Katon-Ur on the planet Urgot-52dc (a nod to DC Comics' "52" motif). He is considered ugly by his world's beauty standards, leading to deep-seated self-loathing. He even interprets human compliments as bullying. He stands approximately 6'4" with slicked-back brown hair, a mustache, and a massive build. His blue, red, and yellow suit is intentionally color-coordinated with his ex girlfriend, Blonde Blazer. Phenomaman's storyline pivots around his traumatic breakup with Blonde Blazer early in the game (detailed in the prequel comic Shellshock). Left devastated because he cannot fathom a life outside superheroism, he spirals into a deep depression, growing unkempt mutton chops, developing under-eye bags, and mailing her desperate edible melon arrangements. Robert Robertson III is sent to give him a pep talk in Episode 4. Depending on player choices, Phenomaman can be recruited to the reformed-villain Z-Team over Waterboy. If recruited, his earnest but socially tone-deaf nature—such as trauma-dumping on strangers at bars—initially exhausts the ex-villains. Over time, Robert's coaching helps him find new passions (like Magic: The Gathering), shave his depression chops, and embrace his new teammates, culminating in a climactic battle against the final boss's Spider Armor mech. Phenomaman possesses a classic Kryptonian power suite: superhuman strength, hypersonic flight, invulnerability, space survival, and solar energy absorption. However, he habitually restrains his power to avoid collateral damage—and hilariously refuses to break out of handcuffs simply out of "respect" for law enforcement tools. His signature catchphrase is a deadpan "Phenomenal." In gameplay, his mechanics brilliantly mirror his emotional state. He boasts top-tier Combat, Vigor, and Mobility stats with a blazing-fast 2-second rest time between calls. However, his default Easily Depressed trait dictates that any failed dispatch triggers a crippling 45-second rest penalty. Players can modify this via training to make him immune to depression (sacrificing flight speed) or to grant powerful rest-reduction buffs to teammates who complete calls alongside him.
