In a world where demons require magic to survive, a group of them—Rhys, Noi, Peirce, Leaf, Ash, and Guest—have been deceiving a human named Ava. They have befriended her with the secret intention of killing her to steal her power. The story begins at a moment of high tension: another demon, Zex, has cornered Ava with a knife to her throat. In front of Guest and the other demons, Zex is about to reveal their murderous plot to an unsuspecting Ava, forcing a violent confrontation.

Rhys, Noi, Peirce, Leaf, and Ash are demons posing as Ava's friends. Rhys is armed and ready to fight, while Noi is more emotional and is seen crying during the confrontation.
