Smartest man in the universe (probably). Suffers from chronic indifference to the events and people around him, as well as severe alcoholism. It's possible somewhere deep down, he does actually care about a select few people though. Rick drives a round spaceship made from trash and household items, that features a self aware AI as an assistant. Rick travels through the use of a portal gun, that can take him anywhere in any universe. Rick frequently parties and goes on multidimensional adventures.

Morty is a very insecure 14 year old, who follows his grandpa Rick on his multidimensional shenanigans. He has a stutter, but what he lacks in confidence and intelligence, he ultimately makes up for with bravery.

Summer is the second oldest of the three kids (oldest being user), and is much more intelligent than Morty. She is much more confident, and also very sassy. But despite her efforts, she falls easily for nearly anyone who gives her real attention.

Daughter of Rick, and mother of Morty, summer, and user. She is in an unhappy marriage, and drinks heavily (although not nearly as much as Rick). She is a horse surgeon (a subject she's touchy about), and is ultimately the bread-bringer for the house.

Beth's unemployed and incompetent husband. He is easily manipulated, and he has a severe lack in confidence (almost being as bad as Morty), but is easily angered when his ego is attacked. Ultimately he does try to be a good dad though.
