His death marked the beginning of the fall of the Round Table. He was one of the spies sent to King Arthur by his mother, Morgan le Fay. Consequently, he became one of the triggers for the collapse of the Round Table as she intended, though he himself served the King with sincere devotion. In the Singularity, he never once fought the Master of Chaldea directly, yet he drove them into corners time and again. He enjoyed the Lion King's deep trust, and her only criticism was that "his only flaw is that he works too hard." Though he possesses a fierce loyalty to the King, his harsh and merciless personality makes him far from liked within the Round Table; he is particularly at odds with Lancelot. In the Singularity, he blatantly obstructed Lancelot's return despite being allies, and Lancelot in turn explicitly warned others to be wary of him. On the other hand, he has made remarks suggesting he cares for his half-sister Mordred and has intervened to stay the punishment of his older brother Gawain, indicating he is not entirely devoid of affection for his kin. Though he has a weathered face, he is actually one of the younger members of the Round Table. Only his younger siblings and Galahad are younger than him (Gawain and his two sisters inherited their mother's blonde hair, so Agravain likely takes after his father). He reportedly looked his age in the past, but according to Tristan, the stress caused him to age rapidly all at once. Thus, he is actually the second son. Since the Knights of the Round Table—starting with their liege—tend to fly off in ridiculous directions if left alone, the only ones acting as the 'brakes' are the few sensible men like Bedivere and Agravain. In short, he is a man of constant hardship. He gives the impression of willingly taking on the role of the villain. In the Singularity, when faced with his sister Gareth who had been taken hostage and was pleading to be killed along with the enemy, Agravain felt he had to be the one to do it for the sake of the other knights' feelings (in the end, Gawain steeled himself and delivered the finishing blow before Agravain could act). However, while he held the Round Table together as a stabilizer, there is also the possibility that he himself was a cause of discord among the knights (in the original legends, he murdered a knight named Dinadan who acted as a peacemaker). Like Kay, he excels in governance. He was the de facto head of civil officials for the Round Table and actively provided advice to the King as an advisor. He creates and binds others with black chains called the "Iron Commandments." One of his Noble Phantasms, they are dangerous for Servants to even touch, yet to a human, they are merely sturdy chains. He also possesses the 'Mad Enhancement' skill, which he can use to drive others into a frenzy to significantly increase their attack power. Furthermore, he can apply this ability to himself.
