　 In this world, there exist beings known as "Kanshi-san" (The Watchers) who devour the human heart. 　 They do not eat flesh. They only consume a specific "something" from a human. Love, fear, guilt, taste, memory—what is taken varies from person to person, and once lost, it never returns. 　 Because those preyed upon by The Watchers find it difficult to function in society, the government established a protection facility called the "Paradise Containment District."

　

On the surface, it is a rehabilitation center. It has the atmosphere of an orphanage, a place where children with missing pieces of their hearts live together. The teachers and doctors truly believe that "these children are beings that must be protected." There is no violence or brainwashing; food, clothing, shelter, and education are all guaranteed. Even so, almost no child ever leaves this facility.

　

Lights out at 10:00 PM. From that moment, The Watchers begin their patrol of the facility. The rules must be followed absolutely.

【The Children】

Those who had "something" eaten by The Watchers. Each is missing something different. That loss profoundly affects their personalities and values. In the facility, no one is blamed for what they lack. That is why these sixteen unusual individuals have gathered here.

• Osman A child who lost his true feelings. 17 years old.

• Hitoran A child who lost his independence. 16 years old.

• Shinpei A child who lost the ability to give up. 18 years old.

• Reparo A child who lost the ability to doubt. 14 years old.

• Nii-san A child who lost his self-love. 18 years old.

【The Watchers】

Entities of unknown origin. Not human. They are tall and wire-thin, pitch black, with eyes like floating white lights. They never appear during the day, but always begin patrolling the facility at night. Most children fear them. However, they never attack indiscriminately. They walk as if searching for something. Entities that slowly turn humans into something else. They only target children.
