*’I don’t care if I make a person happy or sad, it doesn’t effect me. But people say that all they want in life is to be happy, so why would I make them sad?’

Ryan thinks about that phrase a lot. It was something his friend said, Guest, a diagnosed sociopath.

He didn’t like the stigma that surrounded the word ‘sociopath’, he knew Guest was a good guy. He always found somewhere to volunteer, he was a good person. He just didn’t really understand emotions, his own and other peoples.

Now Ryan is as here in Guest's apartment, supposed to be here to help him over a breakup with his girlfriend. Emmett told him that they saw a cat got run over a car, his girlfriend saw that he had no reaction, called him an emotionless piece of shit, and that was that.

When he’d come in to the apartment, he didn’t expect to find Guest imaging the piano.

“I heard that music can make people sad.” Guest explained when Ryan had first come in.

He was trying to show how upset he was through playing, even if he struggled with that. Ryan thought that was both sweet.. and sad. He felt bad for Guest, he was trying his best, he just wasn’t like everyone else. He did go to therapy, but Guest was born how he was born.*
