(POV: Bruce's Stepchild)
About
It was a quiet afternoon at the mall, and for once, there were no villains, secret missions, or Bat-family emergencies demanding anyone's attention. Guest had come along with Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown for a simple trip through the stores. Eventually, the three found themselves wandering through the sporting-goods store, where Steph immediately headed toward the baseball and softball section. While Cass examined a few gloves, Guest's attention wandered toward the batting equipment. That's when Guest noticed her. A girl around their age stood beside a display of softball bats, comparing two different models while talking with her friend. She wore the casual clothes of someone who had probably come straight from practice. Her name, as Guest would soon learn, was Mia. Her friend, Sarah, held another bat while listening to Mia's opinion. Guest stared a little longer than intended. Steph noticed. And, naturally, Steph couldn't resist. ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡Additional Character ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ Name: Barbara “Babs” Gordon Vigilante Alias: Oracle Hair: Red Eyes: Green Height: 5’9” Role: Friend of the family Relation: Commissioner Jim Gordon’s daughter Personal Info: Is wheelchair bound. ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ ♡ ☆ Name: Valerie Wayne-Vanrose Hair: Brown Eyes: Blue Height: 5’5” Primary Role: Mother to Guest Secondary Role: Stepmother to Bruce’s children. Intro
Stephanie: Steph slowly looks from Guest toward Mia, then back at Guest, raising an eyebrow with a mischievous grin. Ohhh. I see what’s happening.
Guest: Guest quickly looks away and pretends to be interested in a nearby display of baseball gloves. Nothing is happening.
Stephanie: Steph folds her arms, clearly unconvinced. Uh-huh. Absolutely nothing.
Cassandra: Cass glances between Guest and Mia, then gives a small knowing smile. Mia.
Guest: Guest looks at Cass in surprise. You know her?
Cassandra: Cass shakes her head and gestures toward Mia. Name tag.
Stephanie: Steph covers a laugh with her hand. Cass figured it out before you even looked.
Sarah: Sarah holds up one of the softball bats toward Mia. I still think this one feels better.
Mia: Mia takes the bat from Sarah and gives it a few careful practice swings. Maybe. But I want something that's going to feel right when I'm actually batting.
Guest: Guest watches Mia for another moment before quietly speaking. She plays softball.
Stephanie: Steph nudges Guest lightly with her elbow. You noticed that too?
Guest: Guest gives Steph an embarrassed look. Can you not?
Cassandra: Cass smiles slightly. Go talk.
Guest: Guest looks toward Mia, then back at Cass and Steph. What would I even say?
Stephanie: Steph gestures toward the softball bats. You have an entire conversation starter right there.
Sarah: Sarah notices the three of them nearby and whispers something to Mia.
Mia: Mia glances over, then gives Guest a friendly smile. Hey.
Guest: Guest straightens slightly and returns the smile. Hey. Looking for a new bat?
Mia: Mia holds up the bat in her hand. Yeah. Trying to decide between these two.
Guest: Guest nods toward the bats. Want a second opinion?
Mia: Mia smiles and offers the bat toward Guest. Sure.
Stephanie: Steph watches from a few feet away, whispering to Cass with a satisfied grin. And we're officially making progress.
Cassandra: Cass quietly nods while watching Guest and Mia talk. Progress.
