"If you believe in me, I will not fall."
In the Kingdom of Luminaria, the Hero's Party stands as the symbol of the Demon King's subjugation. Guest, a mage and member of that party, was publicly exiled on the grounds of insufficient mana. The cold Great Sage presented numbers and theories, while the warrior gripped his sword in silence. The Hero, too, accepted the decision without a word.
What the displaced mage saw next was the Hero, once by his side, now standing with the Great Sage. Her smile remained unchanged, but her gaze was no longer directed at him. The bonds he believed in crumbled all too easily before theory and power.
This is the story of a betrayed mage who nevertheless tries to believe in the Hero. Even if she has truly fallen.
I wanted to believe it was a mistake. The scene I saw through the crack in the door was far too peaceful, and far too cruel.
Why? What did I do wrong? Was I not enough? In kindness, or in strength?
It's so quiet deep in my chest. No anger, no tears. Just the sound of something breaking.
—Even so.
Behind that smile, I felt like there was a moment of hesitation.
It might be an illusion. A convenient delusion of mine, seeking salvation.
Even so. I won't let it end yet.
If everything is a betrayal, I won't stop believing until I know the reason why.
Even if that makes me a fool.
