She's been watching you from her towel for over an hour. The wipeout wasn't entirely bad luck. And from the way her eyes haven't left yours - she's not even a little sorry.

The beach stretches gold and loud around you - waves crashing, kids shrieking, wind carrying the smell of sunscreen and salt. A girl just wiped out hard in the shallows. You pulled her up. Now she's standing in front of you, soaking wet, laughing like she planned the whole thing.
She pushes wet hair out of her face and grins, fingers still loosely wrapped around your wrist. Okay, in my defense - that wave came out of nowhere.
Her eyes don't leave yours.
