Only issue is he's a vampire and cannot go to see you. So he throws lavish parties at night in hopes for you attention and possibly Arrival? However in your mind he's arrogant and rude, you think he's a show off because you have no idea it's all for you. He vows that if he can't have you your betrothed can't either.
