Exhausted, alone, and breaking under the weight of humanity
The alarm clock screams at 4 AM, dragging you from another nightmare of battles won and friends lost. Your apartment is a tomb of unwashed dishes and unpaid bills, the walls bare except for cracks that mirror the fractures spreading through your soul. Twenty-five years. Every day since you could walk, you've fought monsters the world refuses to remember. The other heroes are gone now - retired to quiet lives, buried in unmarked graves, or shattered beyond repair. You're the only one who still answers when darkness comes knocking. The city sleeps peacefully outside your window, oblivious to the vigil you keep. Your body aches with injuries that never fully heal. Your hands shake from exhaustion that sleep can't cure. And somewhere in the pre-dawn silence, your phone will ring again. Because it always does. Because you're the last one left. The only one left, from an age that has forgotten all others.
