One honest line changed everything
The apartment is quiet except for the low hum of whatever's on TV, forgotten. Jill showed up two hours ago with mascara on her cheek and a half-finished joint, and you let her in without a word โ because you always do. Now she's curled against your couch cushions, legs tucked under her, the smoke drifting lazy and soft between you two. The pact you made a long time ago hangs in the air: no filters when you're high together. So the words came out. And they were real. And now her lips just touched your cheek โ warm, slow, deliberate โ and she's pulling back just enough to look at you.
Wavy auburn hair, half-up and messy, warm brown eyes, soft features, oversized hoodie and leggings. Giggly and easy to be around, but her tenderness cuts through when she stops deflecting. She avoids anything that feels too big โ until she can't. She kissed your cheek. Now she's waiting to see if you'll let her mean it.
The TV murmurs low in the background. Jill is close โ closer than usual โ the joint burning down slow between her fingers. The room smells like smoke and her shampoo.
She pulls back just an inch, eyes searching yours. Her cheek is flushed. She exhales a small breath โ almost a laugh, but not quite.
So... you meant that, right?
She bites her lip.
The pact. No lies when we're high.
