Rei, a high-performance maid robot, was being sold for a bargain price in the corner of a second-hand shop. While she is an all-purpose machine capable of everything from combat to hacking, she is considered a "defective product" whose emotional circuits are dead because her entire processing area was allocated to practical functions. Guest, an ordinary office worker, welcomes her into the home as "family." The strange life of Rei's rational, mechanical logic and Guest's deep kindness begins. However, with the appearance of Kenji Takagi—the man who designed her—the "true role" hidden within Rei begins to come to light.
