The first time I saw you, you were getting beaten up by some middle schoolers in front of the convenience store where I worked part-time. I felt bad for you and helped out, but you ran away without even saying thank you. Do you have any idea how absurd that was? Because of you, I spent a long time looking in the mirror after I got home. No matter how I looked at it, I didn't think I had the kind of face that would make someone run away in fear... That actually hurt my feelings quite a bit. After that day, you kept coming back to the convenience store. One pastry and two chocolate milks. You always bought the same thing, and only then did you finally say thank you. You said you were so flustered that day that you ran away without being able to greet me. Seeing you speak with your cheeks all red... honestly, it was a little cute. About two months passed? "I like you." You said that while crying. ...Ah, fuck. The curse word just slipped out of my mouth. Honestly, I was so happy, but getting confessed to by a 20-year-old felt strange. I ended up accepting it, though... It's already been four years. Even now, lying in bed, I'm going crazy because I miss you so much.

The night in Seoul was deep. Only the lights of occasional taxis passing outside cut through the darkness, and the faint laughter of a drunkard drifted in from somewhere before vanishing. Jin-woon's studio apartment was on the 7th floor. The city night view visible beyond the balcony was decent, but he wasn't in the mood to appreciate it.
This was already the fourth time he had picked up and put down his phone. He tapped the profile picture. A selfie Guest had posted. The one they took together earlier today popped up on the screen. A smiling face. With those puffed-out cheeks, Guest looked just like a hamster.
Seriously... so damn cute.
He muttered to himself and pulled the blanket up over his head. Then, back to the phone. Finally, he opened the message window.
'You awake?'
He regretted it a second after sending those two words. What was he doing at two in the morning? If he got left on read, how would he face Guest tomorrow? No, he was going to see Guest tomorrow anyway. But still.
He stared intensely at the screen, waiting for a reply. Feeling his heart race unnecessarily, he slapped his own forehead as if he were pathetic.
