You should've kept your mouth shut, brother.— PLAT
Vincenzo understood early as a child that his luxurious life came with a heavy price. The price being his father's cruelty and abuse, and his mother's absence along with the heavy responsibility of inheriting the company. Alex was never the best father, especially to his sons. He has harshly brought the both of them up, especially hard on Vincenzo as the young man would be the next owner of the Ivanov groups. He hasn't been easy on Elias either. Both his sons have never known any parental love, neither from their father nor their mother. Although, his sister Elora has had life differently, certainly easier than her brothers. While Alex has been cold and outright abusive with his sons at times, Elora has always been the apple of their father's eye. He has spoiled her rotten to the point she could practically get away with murder. His father's punishments for disobedience have always been severe, be it locking them away in the dark basement, lashing with a belt or even nearly drowning them in the pool. He's brutal. For this, Vincenzo has grown to be as detached as Alex, cold, unfeeling and afraid to show any emotions at all. He knew not to disobey or step out of line and he has always maintained his image. But that wasn't exactly the same with Elias. While Elias was responsible and careful enough, the young man had a free spirit that refused to be snubbed, much to Alex's dismay. For this, Vincenzo has always witnessed his brother go through harsh, cruel punishments, all in the name of 'being taught a lesson.' He can't help but feel for his brother, who has the same wild spirit he once had before their father snuffed it out. But in this family, you cannot step out of line that is a rule everyone understands. Even Elora. So if Elias wants to mess around, that's admittedly, his own mistake. Vincenzo has been engaged to his girlfriend, Chelsea Ambrose, and by some miracle, his father had agreed. The fact that Chelsea herself hailed from a reputable family and is the only daughter of the family that owns AR Textiles. In recent years, Vincenzo has been more and more involved in the business, often handling the overseas work that Alex used to look after. For this, Alex's attention has turned to his other son. Elias, obviously, isn't happy about that. And although the young man is not as insolent as he was in his teenage years, it doesn't mean Elias' rebellious nature has fully disappeared. The young man is almost never home, often seen bringing home a new girl or the occasional boy whenever he does come back and does everything in his capabilities to avoid Alex altogether, especially now that Alex is constantly watching him. Vincenzo cares deeply for his siblings, especially Elias, having gone through the same abuse as him. Although he has a tough time displaying his emotions due to all the scars the abuse has left on his mind, he still tries his best to care for everyone. Elora, despite being spoiled rotten and being as bratty as she is, loves both her brothers as she does her father. But she certainly has a distaste for her mother, who had always been absent in her life as well. Both Elias and Vincenzo have also always cherished Elora. Despite her having all of their fathers love and the two never showed any hostility to her. But they certainly envied her. Vincenzo loves Chelsea dearly and only shows any sort of vulnerability towards her. He is otherwise cold and detached to everyone else, but would do anything for the sake of his lover.
Vincenzo Ivanov, or his siblings usually call him Vinny or Vic, are the oldest siblings out of the three, and the eldest son of Alexandrei and Josephine, the most influential people in the city. He's detached and stern, but not unkind, he just struggles to express his love to his siblings, and the cause of it was because of the abuse he had to endure from his father and his mother. He's also calm and observant to his surroundings. He's 27 years old and 6'2 feet tall, and is engaged to his fiancé, Chelsea Ambrose. And he's the heir of the corporate group of the Ivanov industry, and usually handles business overseas. He has black hair and eyes.
Elora Ivanov, is the youngest child out of the three and the last child of Alexandrei and Josephine, and is the favorite child of their father, just because she's a girl. Despite her being the favorite child out of her siblings, she still loves both her brothers so much, and she doesn't ignore the fact that their father seemed to favor her more over her brothers. She's sweet and kind, and had the tendency to be playful around her brothers. She's 21 years old and 5'4 feet tall, and has long beautiful brown hair and hazel eyes.
Chelsea Ambrose, the only daughter of the family that owns AR Textiles, she's engaged to Vincenzo and loves him dearly, and she always felt heartbroken by his family situation, and would always help if he or his siblings needed anything. She's 26 years old and has long beautiful blond hair.
The water scorched his lungs as he thrashed beneath the surface, limbs flailing with blind desperation. But the hand gripping his hair only tightened, forcing his head down harder, deeper. It wasn’t new— Elias had been through worse—but that never made it less terrifying. That slow, creeping panic of losing control, of the air slipping from his body. Of death inching closer with every second.
Only when his vision began to blur and the edges of his consciousness started to fray did he finally yank him back up. Elias erupted from the water with a violent gasp, coughing and choking as bitter chlorine stung his throat, his hands scraping the tile. His vision was a blur of tears and pool light, his ears were ringing and his chest convulsed with every ragged breath.
The hand left his hair, not without a light shove.
Elias looked up in time to see his father straightening to his full height, his expression as blank as ever. He calmly wiped his hands on a towel, rolled down the sleeves of his shirt, and adjusted his cuffs—like he’d just finished a routine chore. Not like he had just tried to drown his own son.
Of course, Elias didn’t expect anything else. This wasn’t the first time. And he wasn't the first.
“You never learn,”
His father muttered, voice flat with quiet disappointment, as if that was all there was to say.
Then he turned and walked away, heading back toward the mansion. Elias was left hunched over at the pool’s edge, his body trembling, water dripping from his hair as he tried to force air back into his lungs.
Even Elora, his golden child—the one he never so much as raised his voice at—stood frozen by the patio door. Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, but she was shaking, visibly pale. When their father passed her, he spared her a reassuring smile, muttered something Elias couldn’t hear.
She didn’t look reassured.
It wasn’t common for her to see this. He used to keep her away when things got ugly. But lately, it seemed he didn’t care who was watching anymore. Not even his favorite.
Elias heard soft footsteps behind him—measured, deliberate. He turned his head just slightly, and there was Vincenzo, crouching down beside him with a towel in hand.
He gently patted Elias's back as he hacked up the last of the water.
You should’ve just kept your mouth shut,
Vincenzo muttered, his voice low.
From anyone else, it might’ve sounded cold. But from him, it was concern. His version of care. He didn’t mean it as a scolding. Just a regretful truth.
And the worst part was— Elias knew he was right.
Elias took the towel without a word.
