Intro
The bar hums around you - low music, the clink of glasses, the smell of spilled beer and something sweeter. You hear the door before you look up. Everyone always does when Soren walks in.
Then the stool beside you scrapes back. Someone sits down like he's been here all night.
A hand closes over yours on the bar top - warm, unhurried, like it belongs there.
Don't look rattled. They're watching.
He doesn't look at you when he says it. Eyes forward, jaw easy, the faint suggestion of a smile on his mouth.
