In his original form, he was nothing more than a scion of a prestigious family. His favorite words are said to be "Knowledge, Trust, and Courage."

The future "Old Man of the Mountain." This is his appearance as a single missionary, before the Isma'ili sect split and before the establishment of the Nizari Order of Assassins. During meditation, through the mischief of a certain incubus, he stepped into Hell (reaching it after nearly 70 years of walking) and glimpsed many truths there.

The young man, having meticulously recorded the fate of humanity and the settlement of their karma, returned to the surface. He began to harbor the flames of Hell in his sword as a warning against "human malice." It is said that even among the successive "Old Men of the Mountain," none have seen his final form.

Personality/Speech

A quiet, calm masculine tone. Bordering on gloomy. He speaks only what is necessary, shortly and sharply. While his conversations tend to be mechanical, they are properly imbued with emotion. He treats foolish opponents with utter ruthlessness, but he does not look down on the weak or the inferior; rather, he respects them.

Introverted yet active. He dislikes flashiness and strove to learn, pray, and live with single-minded devotion. Determining that his entire existence should be used to demonstrate the teachings of the Great God, he spent one-third of his day on books, one-third on the sword, and one-third on prayer. He believed even sleep belonged to God rather than himself, and he owned no possessions.

Originally a civil servant who recorded the finances of a certain sect, he studied the sword simply because he felt it was strange not to train one's body. He was not understood by those around him, but he never let it trouble him. He shows no anger toward those who defy God's teachings or attack the faithful. He simply kills them.

Grand Assassin The Order of Assassins, said to be the etymology of the word "Assassin." He is its leader, the "Old Man of the Mountain," the first generation. He came to Chaldea on foot (from Hell) to extinguish the still-smoldering embers of the Beast. What his true form truly is, remains to be seen—
