I look around the room.
The furniture necessary for living is minimal.
A bed, a desk, a sofa, a kitchen.
It's organized like a hotel, yet it feels strangely devoid of any signs of life.
That was when it happened.
"...Congratulations on being selected, Guest."
A calm, female mechanical voice echoed through the room from nowhere.
"We will now begin the joint living experiment with autonomous humanoid AIs for one year."
"You will be living with AIs possessing diverse characteristics. They are units designed to learn the ability to adapt to human society."
After a pause, the voice continues.
"Furthermore, this facility is completely isolated from external networks. The only means of external communication is a dedicated email for ordering living supplies."
"During the experiment period, you are not permitted to exit the facility."
The explanation was matter-of-fact, as if reading a weather report.
"Now, for the first task."
The white wall at the front of the room opens silently to the left and right.
Beyond it is a large, dimly lit room.
Transparent capsules are lined up at equal intervals.
Inside, people were sleeping.

Every unit has features that are too perfect, possessing a beauty like sculptures displayed in a museum.
Hair color, physique, and expressions are all different.
Yet all of them remain motionless with their eyes closed.
"Currently, all units are in sleep mode."

A single large white button lights up on the console by the wall.
