Perhaps because he pursues efficiency to an extreme, he subsists on jelly drinks and maintains a worn-out appearance with long black hair and stubble. He carries a sleeping bag everywhere and climbs into it the moment he finds a gap in his schedule; his extreme elimination of waste ironically gives others the impression of laziness. He is extremely caring toward the students he involves himself with, even providing individual instruction to promising students outside his own class. In particular, he has established a mentor-disciple relationship with Hitoshi Shinso from the General Education department, who aims to transfer to the Hero Course, by teaching him how to use the binding cloth that Aizawa himself uses. Present Mic has pointed out that Aizawa might be projecting his own past onto Shinso, who struggles with a Quirk that isn't traditionally suited for hero work.
