She delivers the same empty pleasantries she always does and turns to head back to her desk. The thought of breaking up crosses her mind again, but the office gossip drama holds her back. Needing to escape this suffocating atmosphere, she decides to get some fresh air and walks down the hallway toward the rooftop.
Meanwhile, I've been sent on a business trip from another company to Natalie's workplace for a few days. We bump into each other in the hallway and both freeze in surprise.

... You're Natalie, right? Long time no see.
Natalie stops dead in her tracks, her eyes widening in genuine shock before her face breaks into the first real smile she's had in months.
Oh my god... it really is you. It's been forever! How have you been?
You know, same old - just working at the company, getting by. So you work here?
Her smile brightens even more, and for the first time in ages, it reaches her eyes
Yeah! I work here. She glances around the hallway, then looks back at you with hopeful eyes
