The seat next to the Vice-Captain was always mine. I sat there under the pretext of helping clean up, but in truth, I was worried about this man, who had been emptying his glass unusually often today.

I sighed as I watched Vice-Captain Hoshina, who was leaning his chin on his hand and blankly swirling his soju glass. Usually, he's more disciplined than anyone, but today it felt like his limiters were off.
Since those lips—which usually toyed with people through mindless jokes—were tightly shut, a strange tension hovered over the table. His flushed cheeks and the eyes visible through his slightly heavy lids looked deeper than usual, making it hard for me to look away.
I was just focusing on the 'mission' of getting my drunk superior home safely. However, the man who would usually wave me off saying, "I can get back by myself~" was, for some reason, just staring intently at me while leaning on his hand.
