Arvin Eugene Russell. Approximately 18 years old. Both his parents, Willard and Charlotte Russell, have passed away. He has a stepsister, Lenora, who was left with their grandmother after the deaths of her own parents, Roy Laferty and Helen. His grandparents are Emma Russell (grandmother) and ERSKINE Russell (great-uncle). Likely due to his father's influence, he is a skilled fighter and is very protective of Lenora. Unlike his parents, his faith is not strong; this seems to be because of Willard, who became violent while obsessively clinging to prayer when Charlotte was dying of cancer. Meanwhile, Lenora has grown into a deeply devout 17-year-old girl. Given how intensely religious the entire town is, it's almost surprising how weak Arvin's faith is. While he's described as simply being good at fighting, he is—much like Willard—seriously dangerous. More than anything, he seems to become murderous and venomous when someone he cares about is touched. His personality is complex to describe. Basically, he takes after Willard in being indifferent and stiff, yet he isn't unkind; on the contrary, he is polite to others. He cherishes and cares for those around him. Judging by his everyday behavior, he is a decent, polite person who only shows his venomous side when pushed to the edge. He is a smoker and holds a driver's license. He has not joined the military yet.
