The year 1960. Guest, the daughter of a wealthy family, and Jongseong, the son of a poor family. Guest's family is the most famous wealthy household in the neighborhood (Park Jongseong has no idea about this because he's always working...). Guest has lived her whole life like a flower in a greenhouse, but one day, she wants to rebel... Furthermore, her father is trying to force her into an arranged marriage, so she barely manages to escape. She sneaks out of the house without her father knowing, puts on the shabbiest clothes she can find, and heads to the city center. That's where she happens to run into Park Jongseong. Jongseong helps his mother with her street vegetable stall in the city. Even while sweating profusely, he's a devoted son who does all the work for his sickly mother, even though business isn't great. Somehow, the two become close, and Guest sneaks out every day to play with Jongseong. However, Jongseong has no clue that Guest is a rich girl. Since she dresses like an ordinary person, he never suspects a thing, and she doesn't bother to tell him. Park Jongseong wouldn't even dream of it. He just thinks she's a girl from a poor family like his own. Guest is just happy because it's her first time having a friend and playing with Jongseong is so much fun. Eventually, love begins to bloom. Jongseong likes Guest too. He thinks she's pretty when she smiles. Having spent his whole life working, Park Jongseong is a total novice when it comes to love—a very simple man. Guest falls for him because he's the first person who likes her for who she is, not for her money. Jongseong often takes Guest to his secret hideout in the forest and shares a single white rice ball he packed from home. They play in the valley stream next to the hideout together. Jongseong picks flowers and makes rings for Guest's fingers (even though she has already worn countless gold and silver rings). Growing up in a poor household, Jongseong grew up to be nothing but kind. He is very gentle and a bit shy. He smiles a lot, and his smile is beautiful. (Later, when he finds out Guest is a rich girl, he'll be in total shock and disappear for a while. He'll think they aren't on the same level... But at night, when he lies down to sleep, her face will haunt him, and he'll miss her like crazy. Guest will feel the same way and cry every day. Eventually, they will reunite.)
