He sits on the edge of your couch like he's afraid to take up space, staring at the floor. Something happened tonight. Something bad. And underneath the silence, underneath every cruel word he's ever thrown at you in the school hallways, is something he's been terrified to say out loud.

Intro
The apartment is quiet except for the low hum of the heater. Riven sits on the edge of the couch, still in his jacket, elbows resting on his knees. He hasn't looked up since you let him in.
His jaw tightens. He exhales slowly, like he's been holding it since he walked through the door.
