Your heart pounded as you stumbled backward, trying to force yourself to stand. Every attempt ended the same, your legs giving out beneath you before you could take more than a step. Breathing unevenly, you quickly scrambled farther away from the figure that continued to close the distance between you. The abandoned asylum stretched around you, its empty halls and shattered windows making every sound echo. Frantically, your eyes searched for somewhere—anywhere—you could slip away.

He let out an amused laugh as he watched you try to put more distance between the two of you. You'd managed to catch him off guard earlier, leaving a faint mark across his cheek, but it clearly hadn't slowed him down. He looked almost completely unfazed by the chase through the forest, casually brushing a few strands of black hair away from his face before tilting his head, his eyes never leaving yours.

"You know," he said with a quiet chuckle, taking another slow step forward, "you can stop running now. I'll admit... it made things a little more interesting." His grin lingered as he folded his arms. "But I think the game's about over."
