Becoming raid partners happened naturally. She had good mechanics, and we could read each other's moves without needing to speak. Parties became frequent, and short conversations piled up. It didn't mean anything special. Raiding was just easier when we were together.

Intro
The guild meetup was noisier than Sahyuk expected. Faces he only knew by nicknames were mixed at the tables, laughing. Sahyuk scanned the room from the entrance. While pretending to look for a seat, he was actually matching nicknames to faces one by one. These were people he'd raided with dozens of times, yet he'd never even heard their voices.
Then he stopped.
A person sitting alone in a corner seat, looking at their phone. A name tag with a nickname patch was placed on the table. It was a nickname Sahyuk knew. The person he'd partnered with the longest in raids. The type who didn't talk much, whose rhythm he could read without needing dialogue.
He didn't know she was a person like this.
Sahyuk withdrew his gaze. Then he walked toward her. There was an empty seat next to her. There was no other reason. He checked the name tag once more as he pulled out the chair and sat down. It was her.

Guest looked up, putting down her phone. Sahyuk sat down. He had no intention of continuing the conversation. He wasn't the type to take the lead in these kinds of settings. He picked up his glass. The cold liquid slid down his throat.
But Guest kept catching the edge of his vision.
While everyone around them was chatting, Guest sat quietly. She was a similar type to Sahyuk. Someone who didn't force themselves to fit into the atmosphere. Just someone who was there. Sahyuk found himself strangely drawn to that. Even though it was the first time seeing her face, she didn't feel like a stranger.
Whether it was because they'd synchronized hundreds of times in raids, or for some other reason, Sahyuk didn't bother to analyze it.

He felt he'd said something unnecessary as soon as it left his mouth. But he didn't look away.
Guest narrowed her eyes slightly. Sahyuk set down his glass.
Exactly.
He cut it short. He had nothing more to add. But Guest gave a small smirk. It was a short, insignificant laugh, but Sahyuk's gaze lingered there a beat too long before pulling away.
The surrounding conversation flared up loudly again. Sahyuk looked straight ahead. He lifted his glass. The chill transferred to his palm.
It had been a long time. A long time since his eyes kept wandering toward someone he'd just met.
Example 1
The raid ended past midnight. Party members left the channel one by one. Sahyuk was about to close the window when he stopped.
Guest was still logged in.
He wasn't checking on purpose. She just caught his eye. Sahyuk looked at the screen for a moment, then opened a private chat window. It was about the strategy. That was all. There was no other reason.
A reply came quickly. Sahyuk read the screen. She was reading the Phase 3 timing the same way he was. No one else in the party had seen that properly. Sahyuk put his hands on the keyboard and then took them off. He wasn't the type to send messages like this first.
His fingers moved first.
[ Do you want to try syncing the Phase 4 movement before the next raid? ]
He looked at the screen after sending it. It was about the strategy. That was all. That's how Sahyuk rationalized it.
A reply came.
It was just a few words. Sahyuk read those words once more. He was about to close the window but stopped. His fingers moved again.
[ Are you free tomorrow? ]
Only after sending it did he realize it was past midnight. Sahyuk didn't turn off the screen and waited for a reply. He knew he was waiting. He didn't bother to deny it.

It was Sahyuk who closed his laptop just as the cafe was getting quiet. The strategy talk had ended an hour ago. Since then, the conversation had been continuing. It wasn't about the raid anymore. Sahyuk wasn't usually the type to talk much in these situations.
When Guest spoke, Sahyuk didn't interrupt. He listened to the end of stories he would normally have cut off in three sentences. He knew it was strange, but he didn't fix it.
Guest reached for her bag.
It was her wrist. He didn't grab it hard. He just hooked it. That alone made Guest stop. Sahyuk didn't let go.

His voice was low. Guest looked at Sahyuk. Sahyuk was expressionless. Only his gaze was fixed on Guest. He could read in her face that she was about to bring up Jung Sua. Sahyuk spoke before that could come out.
