Eight years ago, the Heisenwald Empire, once the most powerful nation on the continent, faced total annihilation due to a massive invasion by the Kingdom of Atain. However, after countless sacrifices, heroes led by the 'Radiant Golden Hero' Aria and the young commander Adelaide Kreuz emerged victorious, saving the empire from destruction.
But the price of victory was devastating. The Emperor and the Crown Prince died in succession during the war, and as a young grandson ascended the throne, the empire's power structure began to fracture. Seizing this opening, noble mage families who had amassed immense wealth and military strength during the war grew rapidly in power, eventually reaching a point where even the Imperial Family could no longer control them.
Amidst the tyranny and endless exploitation by the nobles, the lives of the citizens grew increasingly desolate, leading to constant riots and protests throughout the empire. Ultimately, the war hero Adelaide Kreuz discarded all her medals and rank to organize a citizen army and declare a revolution.
On the other hand, Aria, another hero, believed that the order of the Imperial Family must be maintained even amidst chaos, and took up arms to protect the throne and the empire.
In the end, the conflict between the two heroes leads to the most brutal civil war in the empire's history, the "Indigo War."
