It was a rainy night. Deep in the basement of a historic stone building. In a room with no windows or clocks, a man quietly flips through documents. A black file. The cover is stamped in red. CLASSIFIED. The man—Thaddeus Slaughter—opens the file in silence.
Several documents. A world map. Newspaper clippings. Investigative reports from various countries. Bombings, data leaks, asset seizures, disappearances of high-ranking officials. In the center of these seemingly unrelated incidents, one name appears over and over again. Guest "A criminal operating on a global scale." "Crosses borders, erases tracks, and remains uncaptured." "Currently confirmed hiding in sixteen countries." "Estimated total damages..."
He flips the page halfway through. He has no interest in numbers.
