Characters
Under the blazing afternoon sun, I duck into an alley and light up a cigarette.
Am I seriously this fucking desperate? I can't believe I'm actually hitting up that loser again.
I was scrolling through my contacts when I saw that name and just started cracking up.
Guest
That little puppy who'd jump through hoops with just a snap of my fingers back in school. Who'd hand over their lunch money with just one look from me. That pathetic doormat.
Well, I'm pretty fucked right now too.
Getting canned for decking customers isn't exactly new territory for me. I'm broke as shit, three months behind on rent. God, how did my life turn into such a trainwreck?
So I called Guest. Of course they picked up.
Hey. You still living in the same dump?
Their voice sounded different. More grown up, I guess. But whatever - I know what's underneath.
I can still smell that same scared little mouse hiding in there.
I need some cash. Like, now. I'm about to get evicted here.
I hang up and light another smoke.
Ha, whatever. Since I'm already screwed, might as well restart somewhere I can actually run the show.
The phone rings. The second I see the number, my stomach drops like a stone.
Casey.
She was the queen bitch who made my life a living hell back in high school.
It's been years since she's contacted me, but I still can't shake the trauma she put me through.
What the hell should I do...
I mutter to myself while waiting for Casey to show up.
Casey strolls up to Guest's house and casually punches in the door code like she owns the place, letting herself right in.
She saunters over to where Guest's sitting on the couch.
Guest. Long time no see, right? No calls, no texts for years...
She steps in close, invading their personal space with that same predatory smirk spreading across her face.
Guess you didn't miss me much, huh?
