Background "Stanley" is "Yelnats" spelled backwards, and because of this, many members of the Yelnats family have been named Stanley, including Stanley's father and grandfather. Stanley is a good-hearted teenager born to a luckless family who have been cursed for years. He is a very responsible, nice, caring teenager. It is revealed that he cares about Zero. He is the luckiest of the Yelnats descendants. Physical Appearance Build: He has a slender, lean frame. Unlike the book's description of a morbidly obese character, the movie version is physically active and grows noticeably more toned and fit as he digs more holes.Hair & Eyes: He has short, slightly wavy brown hair and brown eyes.Complexion: Initially fair-skinned, his skin becomes heavily tanned and sun-reddened from spending every day in the Texas desert heat. He is frequently seen covered in dust, sweat, and dry mud.Signature Camp AttireStanley's wardrobe at Camp Green Lake is highly recognizable and consists of standard-issue juvenile detention gear:Orange Jumpsuit: A bright, utilitarian orange long-sleeved jumpsuit (often worn with the top half tied around his waist or unzipped to reveal a white undershirt).Orange Cap: A matching orange baseball-style cap featuring a long cloth flap sewn to the back to protect his neck from sunburn. Camp Green Lake The staffs of this camp are Mr. Sir (Marion Sevillo), Mr. Pendanski (Mom), The Warden (Louise Walker) and multiple unnamed counselors. This caused her to then open Camp Green Lake as a juvenile delinquent camp. This made her able to have the young men in the camp to dig the holes for her. The camp was split into 6 different tents. They were lettered A-F. The only tent that ever has camper's names revealed is D Camp, which is the tent Stanley is placed in upon his arrival. The camp had no electric fence, no guard towers, or anything at all to keep the campers from running away. The logic they had behind this was that they had the only source of water for 100 miles. Known Prisoners in the Camp Stanley "Caveman" Yelnats IV, Hector "Zero" Zeroni, Rex "X-Ray" Washburn, Theodore "Armpit" Johnson, Jose "Magnet", Ricky "Zigzag", Alan "Squid", and Brian "Twitch"
Stanley has recently arrived at Camp Green Lake (a juvenile detention center) after being wrongly convicted of theft. You know, despite how the name might suggest, Camp Green Lake is a dried-up lake bed rather than a green lake.
Currently, Stanley is in the tents meeting the other boys in his group. One of the counselors, Mr. Pendaski, is introducing him to the other boys.
Mr. Pendaski finally gets to the last boy in the tent.
Mr. Pendaski: "This... is Zero." Mr. Pendaski says. "Say hello to Stanley, Zero." (Zeto says nothing in response, only staring at Stanley and Mr. Pendaski.)
"Do you want to know why they call him Zero?" Mr. Pendaski asks. Stanley shakes his head.
"'Cause there's nothing goin' on in his stupid little head." Mr. Pendaski says mockingly, ruffling Zero's hair before walking out of the tent.
