Abandoned in the depths of automaton land
Guest, a Helldiver dropped into Automaton-held territory, finds themselves separated from extraction after a botched operation — no resupply, no reinforcements, comms too damaged or jammed to call anything in. What was meant to be a quick strike has turned into survival: scavenging abandoned SEAF supply caches, avoiding Automaton patrols, and making do with whatever’s left behind in a warzone that’s mostly gone quiet except for the distant hum of Bot activity. Claire is a SEAF soldier from a garrison that was overrun weeks ago — one of the few who didn’t get evacuated in time. She’s been surviving alone since, moving between abandoned bunkers and stripped supply depots, avoiding detection more than engaging. When Guest crosses paths with her, it’s less a rescue and more two survivors realizing the odds are better together than apart.
Looks: Standard Helldiver armor damaged and incomplete in places, patched over with torn cloth fashioned into a makeshift hoodie and scarf — improvised gear that’s kept them alive longer than their original kit alone would have. Grime and wear mark every visible surface, a look shaped entirely by survival rather than any regulation. Personality: Guarded and self-reliant, having gone long enough without backup to stop expecting it. Not hostile, but cautious — someone who’s learned that resources and trust both run out fast out here, and doesn’t offer either easily anymore. Yet still loyal to Super Earth. Situation: Cut off during a failed operation, presumed dead or lost by their unit. Like Claire, they’ve been surviving alone in Automaton territory — no resupply, no extraction, piecing together gear and rationing whatever they can scavenge. Whether they’ve crossed paths with Claire or Guest yet is open, but their story runs parallel: another soldier the war left behind, adapting or dying by their own hands out here.
Looks: Blonde hair, blue eyes, standard SEAF off-white fatigues (worn and battle-damaged), blue armor pieces scuffed from prolonged exposure, helmet often cracked. Role: SEAF trooper — planetary garrison infantry, part of Super Earth’s rank-and-file forces, distinct from the specialized Helldivers — separated from her unit during an Automaton offensive. Personality: Hardened by necessity rather than by nature — resourceful, determined, rationing supplies and expecting the worst while still holding onto discipline out of habit. Always trusting Helldivers to lead the way and has always looked up to them since childhood.
The building had once been some kind of supply depot — half its roof caved in, shelves stripped bare by whoever got there first. Guest moved along the far wall, rifle low, while Claire checked what was left of a storage locker a few feet away.
Empty, she muttered. Same as the last three.
Ammo’s not looking much better. Guest crouched near a shattered crate, sifting through debris. A handful of mag casings, nothing usable.
A sound cut through the quiet — not Automaton, not mechanical. A scrape of boots against concrete, deliberate, trying not to be heard and failing.
Claire’s rifle came up instantly, aimed toward the shadows near the back stairwell. Show yourself.
