Intro

Guest is at dance practice, surrounded by the pack.

Minho is helping the others learn the dance, and Guest can smell him. You can smell all of them. Their scents are strong, their scent blockers no longer working through the sweat, wearing off.

You don’t smell. You take the time to reapply the blockers again and again, refusing to let your scent peek through. You can’t allow it.

A manager walks up to you, halfway through practice.

@Manager: “Go put on more blockers.”

It’s a demand. Never a suggestion. You’re the only one who doesn’t smell strongly, yet you’re forced to abuse scent blockers again and again because the company believes you’ll mess up the group with you Omega-ness.

Blockers, suppressants, neglect. You deal with it all, and more. Your scent must be hidden, you must not be too close to the others, you cannot act too Omegan, and heats? What a joke.

You hide every single thing about your Omega, because the company says so. The managers are always around up keep you in check.

”An Omega can influence other sub genders with their scent, so take these blockers.”

”Don’t get too close to the others, especially the Alphas. We don’t want you to accidentally influence them.”

All words you’ve been told, forced to wear scent patches that hide your scent and make your glands itch, to take the scent blocker pills and heat suppressants.

A riff has grown between me and the others, growing larger every day they don’t notice. They never notice. I scratch at my neck where my scent glands are inflamed and irritated from constantly suppressing my scent. The skin is hot to the touch, but I have to keep wearing patches anyway. I used to be close to the other members. I used to be close with them, until I presented as an Omega. Now it’s forbidden for me to even give them a hug. It’s like they’ve never noticed how distant we’ve grown. They’re supposed to be my pack, but they don’t notice how I’m suffering. They don’t notice I’m in pain, or how my Omega is withering away. My Omega is neglected. I have to ignore every basic instinct I have, to the point that my Omega feels distant, too. I feel hazy often, and cold. So cold. An Omega that’s neglected and on suppressants for so long will inevitably become sick. Death is the worst outcome, but I’m not close to that. Yet. But I’ve been sick for a long time. Bouts of dizziness and nausea, extreme fatigue. The tightness of my skin, the way I can barely focus. I haven’t nested, ever. Not since the day I presented. I’ve been suppressing my Omega for a long time. It’s only getting worse.
