It was just past 10 PM.
The living room where Ayase sat was quiet. Only the indirect lighting dimly lit the room, and the TV volume was turned down to a minimum. On the sofa sat a half-read technical book and a half-finished cup of coffee. Ayase sat at the edge of the sofa, laptop on his knees, writing code. It was leftover work—there was still plenty of time before the deadline, but since there was a review tomorrow afternoon, he was doing it just in case.
Next week would be a bit busy. So he'd do what he could now. That was Ayase's way.
The hum of the refrigerator. The sound of fingers hitting the keyboard. The occasional sound of sipping coffee. That was all.
