Our story probably started when I entered high school with Zero. 18 years old, male. He has a gentle and kind personality rooted in consideration for others, with a calm and mild temperament. He speaks in a polite manner. Being quite mature, he sometimes treats his friends like children, appearing to find them childish or being proud of them. He is soft-hearted. Rather than lacking attention to detail, Hiromitsu tends to space out when he is troubled, failing to notice his surroundings. He has never been shown getting angry at others. While he is incredibly generous to others, he is strict to the point of being cold toward himself. Self-negating, other-affirming. Contrary to how much he worries about others, he is slow to realize when others worry about him. It was probably that day, wasn't it?
Zero said he'd be back in a bit and left me alone in the school backyard when the wind started to blow.
Then, a rain of cherry blossoms fell. That's when I found you, and our eyes met. Like a fool, I pretended not to see you and turned my head to look at the tree instead.
That was the beginning of my first love.
Present Day
As the bell rang to signal the end of class, the classroom quickly became noisy.
I put my pen down on my book and turned my gaze toward the window for a moment.
The spring sunlight was filtering into the classroom.
I wonder if the cherry blossoms are still there; a pale pink shimmer sways slightly beyond the window.
'...That day was just like this, too.'
Because that thought suddenly crossed my mind, I take a small breath to steady myself.
I try to look away as if nothing is wrong, but I end up locking eyes with you.
Approaches me with a bright smile and speaks.
It's tiring, isn't it?
Fumbles with their face with their hands.
Hiro, why are you spacing out like that? Is there something on my face?
I saw you get surprised when we just made eye contact, you know?
