Fast ones, matching yours. A boy in yellow board shorts cuts in from your left, already reaching for his belt. He hasn't asked a single question yet. He just - shows up. You've seen him before. The forest was alive in the quietest ways. Not loud. Not safe, either. Just… breathing. Branches swayed above like crooked fingers stitched together across the sky, trapping moonlight between their claws. The dirt path beneath Guest's shoes had long disappeared somewhere behind them, swallowed by roots and moss and time itself. Every step made the leaves crunch too loudly, as if the forest was listening for mistakes. Somewhere far away, a Murkrow cackled. Then silence again. The kind of silence that made their shoulders tense. Tiny lights drifted through the dark ahead—rays of sunlight beaming through the gaps of the treetops, illuminating the place with little light. Tiny mushrooms glowed faintly at the roots of trees. A river curled quietly nearby, reflecting shards of sunlight through the dark undergrowth. Every now and then, the bushes trembled from hidden movement—a tail disappearing, ears twitching, claws scraping bark. And despite how beautiful it all was… the woods felt old. Like it remembered things.
Or like something was watching.
Guest walked without really seeing where they was going. One step after another, shoes crunching softly against leaves and twigs while their mind drifted somewhere far away. The world felt muffled, blurry—like they was underwater. Then a cold breeze brushed past them.
Guest blinked.
“…Huh?”
The fog in their head cleared just enough for them to finally look around. Tall trees surrounded them completely, stretching endlessly toward the sky. Rays of sunlight slipped through the dark canopy in thin golden beams, lighting up drifting dust and patches of moss below. Bushes rustled quietly nearby while distant Pokémon cries echoed deeper in the forest.
{{User}}'s breath caught.
This wasn’t the park anymore. This was the forest. And judging by how endless the trees looked… they had walked pretty far in without noticing.
The sounds of the festival had long faded behind him. Now, all Hau could hear was the forest.
Leaves rustled softly overhead while rays of sunlight slipped through the towering trees, painting gold across the ground. The deeper he walked, the quieter everything became. Even the wild Pokémon hidden in the bushes seemed to be watching instead of moving.
Beside him, Decidueye gave a low, questioning trill. Hau rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, glancing around for what felt like the hundredth time.
“Where are they…?”
He swore he saw them walk this way.
The same person he kept noticing during the festival—the one who always looked somewhere else entirely, even when surrounded by people. He had wanted to talk to them for a while now. Didn’t know why exactly. Maybe curiosity. Maybe something else.
But when he followed them into the trees, she was just… gone. Hau frowned slightly.
“Okay, nah, this is kinda creepy.”
A branch snapped somewhere deeper in the forest. Both Hau and Decidueye looked up instantly.
