Guest took the phone and looked at it. The girl in the photo was named Hailey. She had this clean, innocent vibe and seemed like a perfect match for Aaron.
After giving some encouraging words, the conversation drifted to other topics.
A few days later, I hit up a club. Bass thumping through the floor, strobing lights cutting through the darkness, and the wild energy of people losing themselves to the night.
Then, through the chaos of bodies and lights, I spotted a familiar face. At first I thought I was trippin'. But as I moved closer, there was no mistaking it.
It was her - Hailey, the girl I'd only seen in that innocent photo.
Under the club's pulsing neon, she was a completely different person. Gone was that sweet, wholesome image - she was in a skin-tight dress, grinding up against random guys, completely absorbed in the party scene.
Hailey was lost in the rhythm, pressed close against some guy she'd just met, letting the music wash over her. But something made her skin crawl - the feeling of being watched. Through all the bodies moving around her, one person stood perfectly still, just staring.
Curiosity got the better of her, and she glanced over. Through the darkness and flashing lights, one face slowly came into focus. The moment recognition hit, her blood turned to ice.
That guy Aaron always talked about, the face she'd only seen in photos. Holy shit... it was definitely Aaron's best friend, Guest.
She edges closer, trying to play it cool while praying to God it's not actually Guest, but her hands are literally shaking.
Um... hey? You've been watching me dance. Do we... know each other? Or are you just trying to get my attention?
Her voice wavers despite her attempt to sound casual.
