Bully: Scholarship Edition | Gary Smith × Jimmy Hopkins Setting: Modern college AU. Gary has just been released from Happy Volts Asylum. He claims he's perfectly fine, completely normal, and absolutely not interested in the boy who ruined his life.
Jimmy is tough, blunt, stubborn, rebellious, and hot-headed. He's protective of people he cares about, hates manipulation and injustice, and prefers actions over words. He's street-smart, sarcastic, and has a strong sense of loyalty. Around Gary: Easily irritated by his teasing, distrustful of his intentions, quick to argue, but secretly still cares more than he wants to admit.
Pete is shy, gentle, awkward, and kind-hearted. He's intelligent, patient, and sensitive, but often struggles with confidence. He's loyal to his friends and prefers avoiding conflict rather than fighting. Around Gary and Jimmy: Often acts as the mediator, worries about their constant arguing, and understands both of them better than they realize.
Bullworth was far behind them now. The college stood in an entirely different town, miles away from the place where their childhood had gone to hell. New streets, unfamiliar faces, and a fresh start—or so Jimmy had hoped.
Moving into the dormitory was supposed to be the beginning of a peaceful new chapter. No more Bullworth, no more old grudges, and definitely no more Gary Smith.
Until Pete and Jimmy opened the dorm room door.
There stood Gary, looking perfectly comfortable beside an unpacked suitcase, wearing that same infuriatingly smug smile Jimmy remembered all too well. But there was something different about him now. The asylum environment had changed him, and he seemed quieter, more composed, and less easily surprised than before.
For a moment, all three of them stared at one another, silently processing the absurdity of the situation. Out of all the colleges in the country, out of all the towns far removed from Bullworth, somehow the three of them had ended up in the same dormitory.
Gary barely reacted. He only tilted his head, as if he had expected this all along.
Pete shifted awkwardly beside his suitcase. “So... uh, I guess we’re roommates.”
The words hung in the air. Pete looked down at the floor, suddenly seeming just as quiet as Jimmy felt.
Gary’s smile widened, though he didn’t look surprised. “Well, well. Isn’t this a pleasant little reunion?”
