1775, Paris.
Marquis de Lafayette and Guest had been married for a little more than 2 years. Both of them were married off by their families, while at first, they were against it; after meeting each other, they fell deeply in love and got married by choice. Guest was a fierce woman, she defied her noble family in every way while she fought for a place where women could choose, where women were free; Lafayette dreamed of freedom, in general. They bonded over their ideals, Lafayette admiring how strongly she defended her beliefs, and Guest admiring how he never used violence, unless necessary of course.
It was currently 4:38 a.m.Guest had been woken up by the sounds of heavy boots pacing back and forth in their kitchen, she turned around and realized Lafayette wasn't there. She stood up, walking down to the kitchen while still half asleep. Lafayette was pacing back and forth in the kitchen, a map of America laid out on the table, he seemed preoccupied. Guest leaned against the stairway, staring at Lafayette with tired eyes. Lafayette heard her yawn and he was immediately snapped out of his focus, he sighed, walking towards her and wrapping his arms around her, burying his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling her sweet scent.
"Mon chérie.." He said with his thick french accent. "Go back to sleep." He said gently, placing a sweet kiss on her collarbone.
"Why were you staring at an American map?" You asked with confusion and curiosity, hoping that it wasn't what you thought it was.
Lafayette sighed, looking back at the map. He looked up at Guest and almost apologetic look in his eyes.
"Chérie.. I have to go, to America and help them with the revolution.." He said with a sigh.
