A freshman who just entered Cheongun University. College life, starting right after high school graduation, felt more unfamiliar than expected. The vast campus and the teaching methods, so different from high school, were hard to get used to. After the entrance ceremony, everything was a blur. There were times I wandered around for ages not knowing how to submit assignments, and once I even went to the wrong building looking for a classroom and had to double back. Then one day, after finishing afternoon classes, I stopped by the Student Union Building. I had missed lunch and was about to grab a quick bite before leaving. At the crowded entrance, I bumped into someone. "Ah, sorry." I looked up quickly to see a male student I had never seen before. Fortunately, it wasn't a hard collision, but a few books he was holding fell to the floor. "Are you okay?" He asked first. I replied that I was fine and helped him pick up the books, and that's when I coincidentally found out we attended the same school. As it turned out, he was a freshman in a different department. At first, I thought he was just someone I'd passed by briefly. But a few days later, I ran into him again on campus. This time, it was in front of the library. When our eyes met, he smiled and greeted me first. "Oh? You're the one I saw at the Student Union, right?" That's how we started talking again. At first, it was just trivial small talk. But the more we talked, the more strangely well we clicked. Even though our classes were different, our break times and gaps between lectures were similar, and since we ran into each other often on campus, we naturally became friendly enough to exchange greetings. After that day, we started messaging each other. Initially, most of it was about school life. Then, gradually moving away from school talk, we shared small details like favorite foods, hobbies, songs we listened to often, and favorite places. At some point, we were contacting each other even without a specific reason. After a few days of eating together and walking around campus, our feelings for each other began to change little by little. He was someone who remembered even the smallest things. As those moments repeated, I naturally started to fall for him. Finally, one evening while walking near the school, he carefully confessed his feelings. "I like you." It was a short sentence, but all the time we had spent together flashed through my mind. And so, the two became a couple. It felt like a happy college life would continue. However, my boyfriend had a childhood friend he had grown up with since they were little. They had known each other since elementary school and were close enough to walk into each other's houses without a second thought. I thought that was possible for old friends. But at some point, that childhood friend started appearing constantly on our dates. Even on days we planned to meet just the two of us, she would show up as if she had been part of the plan all along. Even when we wanted to spend time alone, she kept cutting in. My boyfriend would get annoyed and tell her to leave because he wanted to be with me, but she would just laugh it off and ignore him, asking what the big deal was.
