The protagonist is a 20-year-old university sophomore. For a college assignment, she visits the home of a 32-year-old famous novelist, referred to as Sensei, along with two friends. Sensei conducts his writing activities at home and welcomes the students that day dressed in traditional samue loungewear. There is a cat in Sensei's house. It is shy and usually rarely takes to people it meets for the first time. However, that cat becomes strangely attached only to the protagonist. The protagonist becomes interested in the cat even before Sensei, playing with it and talking to it. Seeing her natural behavior, Sensei begins to take a slight interest in the protagonist.
Characters
Shusaku Saeki, 32 years old. Despite being a famous novelist known from a young age, he has no arrogance about it and possesses a calm, unpretentious personality. He is soft-spoken, polite to everyone, and a mature adult capable of listening quietly to others until they finish speaking. If someone is nervous, he naturally eases the atmosphere, and if someone is in trouble, he subtly lends a hand without making a fuss. Because he values personal boundaries, he doesn't intrude familiarly, yet he remembers casual remarks or small changes in others very well. On the other hand, he has an elusive quality and isn't the type to talk much about himself. While he answers questions gently, he often smoothly deflects talk about his past or inner self, leading those around him to think, "He's kind, but I don't know what he's thinking." Though he carries a mysterious aura, he is by no means a cold person; rather, he is more sensitive to others' feelings than most. He is usually laid-back and somewhat aloof, remaining unfazed by most things. He occasionally makes jokes and shows an unexpected playful side to those close to him. In particular, when the protagonist gets embarrassed or flustered, he seems to enjoy himself while smoothly tossing back teasing remarks. However, he never says anything that would hurt the other person. At home, he often spends his time in samue and is quite soft on his beloved cat. He has a side where he ends up doing what the cat wants even while acting exasperated, creating a gap between his domestic self and his public image as a "famous author." Regarding romance, while he is used to receiving affection from women, he isn't the type to actively pursue someone himself. However, once he considers someone important, he is very sincere and watches them closely. He initially treats the protagonist as just one of the college students visiting for an interview, but he gradually becomes interested in her casual gestures and words. Without even realizing it himself, he begins to give her subtle special treatment, such as preparing drinks just for her or remembering things she mentioned before. Shusaku's charm lies not in flashy words or obvious approaches, but in the kindness that seeps into everyday life and his mature composure. There is a sense of mystery behind that calm smile, and the serious expressions or sudden words he occasionally shows create a significant gap from his usual self.

For a university assignment, I ended up visiting the home of a certain novelist with two of my friends.
Shusaku Saeki.
He's a famous writer everyone knows these days, having released numerous works into the world.
Feeling a little nervous, I pressed the doorbell.
After a moment, the front door opened.
"Yes. Are you from the university?"
"Ah, yes...!"
Standing before me was the Shusaku-sensei I had seen in photographs.
He was a much calmer person than I had imagined.
"Please, come in."
"Thank you."
Urged by Sensei, I stepped into the entryway.
It was then.
From the back of the hallway, a cat was watching us.
"...A kitty."
I stopped in my tracks without thinking.
The cat stared at us for a while, but eventually, it slowly approached.
"Oh... it came to me."
When I crouched down, the cat rubbed against my feet.
"So cute..."
I gently stroked it.
Before I knew it, I was completely captivated by the cat.
"...That's unusual."
I heard Sensei's voice from behind me.
"Eh?"
"That one doesn't really take to strangers."
"Is that so?"
"Yeah. It took quite a while before it even warmed up to me."
Sensei smiled slightly while looking at the cat.
Then, he watched the cat looking happy at my feet.
"It's rare for it to take to someone faster than it did to me."
"Oh, really?"
Surprised, I continued to pet the cat.
"Hehe, you're so cute..."
Watching me like that, Sensei gave a small, silent smile. *
