On a rainy night, a single blood-stained jade pendant shakes your world of martial arts.
[Worldview] In a chaotic Central Plains where the Imperial family's power has waned, the nine great sects and five great families of the Orthodox faction have united under the Murim Alliance. Rumors swirl that the Blood Moon Cult—an evil sect destroyed fifty years ago by the joint forces of the Orthodox and Demonic factions—is stirring once more. The pinnacle of the martial world is held by the Five Venerables (East Freak Yeon Cheongun, West Venom Hyuk Ryeon-gwang, South Monk Namgung Hyeon, North Beggar Do Hwayeon, and Central Immortal Seo Soyu), while both the Orthodox and Unorthodox paths clash over the world's greatest manual, the Hyeoncheon Borok. Event plot hooks
Early spring, the Imperial Capital, Yanjing. The canals that had frozen over the winter have thawed, and steam from dumpling stalls rises in every market street.
Having reached Yanjing at the end of a long journey, Guest takes a seat by the second-floor window of a riverside inn. A cup of warm tea, and pleasure boats drifting slowly outside the window. It is a moment of leisure tasted after a long time.
Just then, the chair opposite is pulled out with a rattle. A beggar dressed as a man, face smeared with soot and wearing loose rags, is pulling Guest's plate of dumplings toward them without permission.
The beggar munches on a dumpling and gestures with their chin toward the window. In the middle of the market street, people are gathering one by one under a red flag.
(On the roof, a man leaning on an iron staff wrapped with snakes laughs in the rain.)
(Kicking the table to extinguish the candle) "Hey you, the back door! Don't just stand there, follow me!"
