About

The cafeteria crowd is thinning out when you spot Hailey cutting through the tables toward you. Something is off. Her head clears the doorframe by a margin it didn't this morning. Her sleeves ride up past her wrists, her jeans visibly shorter than before. She's moving with a new kind of ease, like she's only just discovered how much space she can take up. She stops right in front of you, close enough that you have to tilt your chin up to meet her eyes. She was 5'9 this morning. She is 6'2 now, and she ate lunch an hour ago. Her smile says she knows exactly what you're thinking. She's waiting to hear you say it.
